Volunteering at Festive Friends

On Friday 13th December, three of the Galliford Try Assembly Bristol team volunteered at Festive Friends, an annual lunch for elderly residents and their carers at St Werburghs Community Centre.

Aimee Clarke, Laura Beddis and Kate Gordon were amongst the 20 volunteers who arrived early to set up the room, decorate it in a very festive manner, wrap presents for all the guests, and host a table each.

The 90 guests were treated to a delicious three course lunch, free transport to and from the venue if they needed it, and entertainment in the form of Christmas carols sung by another volunteer, Amy, recruited from a Facebook group, as well as a talk by a local history group and a visit by Avon Fire & Rescue.

It was a delightful way to start feeling Christmassy, and a fascinating afternoon mixing with people of all ages and backgrounds.
